Behind the scenes with Poly: CCX, Edge B, Rove, and Move. When it comes to business communication, Poly has made an enormous impact; because of its cutting-edge IP Phones, conference phones, and other tech equipment. They have been working in the communication field for a long time and have made an impact.
On Rich's last visit to Channel Partners, a great source of behind-the-scenes info has been covered; regarding Poly CCX, Edge B, and Rove. Prince interviewed Poly's Regional Sales Manager Aaron Ingegneri, and VP Solutions Architect Clint Edwards and got to know a lot of previously unclear details.
The team gave detailed answers to Prince's questions. Below we have stated the questions and the relevant answers to the questions asked by Prince Rich, CEO at Rich Technology Group.
How did users receive the Poly Voyager Focus 2?
One of the things that people loved about Poly Voyager 2 is; how comfortable it is. It always amazes me how the engineers spend; so much time trying to make the band on the top feel just right with the comfort level.
It does a fantastic job of blocking out the noises behind you; by combining the additional microphones we put on it.
And some new technology takes that out, so when you speak, no matter what chaos is around you, it disappears for the user on the other side.
Voyager Focus 2 and Voyager 4300 are the first two wireless headphones sets with an acoustic fencing, which is a game changer for me.

Which businesses typically prefer the CCX Series IP Phones?
We are seeing the CCX being deployed in enterprise kinds of environments. With our service providers putting their applications on an Android operating system, that's the experience we are going for. Whatever you see on your mobile device when you come in to use a more traditional desktop phone, you're getting that same experience, so you are seeing some of our top service providers like Zoom Phone, RingCentral, and others porting their applications onto the CCX. The phone is also an open SIP device, so it could just be high-level VVX. It is for people who want to use touch screen devices, so it is for executives, enterprises, and applications on the phone.
Is it possible to display a VoIP Mobile app on a Poly CCX Phone?
It is not typical as the exact same app is not used for that, but it is Android and what people can do is adapt what's on their mobile phone and the desk phone. Then, they create a version for the desk phone; that fills the screen right and takes advantage of the other keys, mute buttons, and other features. So, there is some customization required.
When we first released the CCX, it was heavily used and continues to be used by Microsoft Teams users; because MS Teams only has to have an app running on the phone. Other providers have started to put their apps on it and can also use it. Another exciting thing about the phone is that; it has a hybrid mode where if you need a function, you can flip that out and go to just the average Poly SIP phone experience, so you can do group paging that may not be available on the app.
Which businesses typically prefer the Edge B Series IP Phones?
The 'B' in Edge stands for Business or Basic for a couple of models. It is low-end in terms of price point with the idea of a primary phone for cost sensitive markets. We thought of Latin America, Eastern Europe, and Asia, and then as we rolled it out, we found that many people in North America still do not have a primary phone for virtual spaces. So, it is just built for that niche.
Are there any new Poly devices or features coming soon?
We have a lot of stuff in the works. The most significant area where we are innovating is what we can do for better meeting equality. So we are trying to evolve and figure out how we can take a room full of people and have intelligent enough cameras to pick out not just one person but multiple people in that room, and then how can we get their full-size images to the other side.
We are heavily invested in this area and continue to invest in it. You are going to see some new products come out. Things like Rove DECT handsets, HB, CCX, etc., and many partners are involved, so just stick with us. We have identified some new components for new some of our phones. One thing that we would like to talk about is our relationship with Microban. They are providing us the antimicrobial technology, and we are integrating that into our VVX, CCX devices, and almost any plastic you see from Poly, so that's a great relationship.
